RIGA, Sept 12 (LETA) - A delegation from the People's Bank of China, led by its president Zhou Xiaochuan, paid a visit to the Bank of Latvia (Latvijas Banka, LB) yesterday. Macroeconomic processes were discussed in wake of the rapid economic development. Latvia's transition to a market economy was also reviewed, that opened the door for membership in the European Union. At this time, both China and Latvia share the same reality - a high economic growth rate and resulting high inflation. The Chinese delegation "stopped by" Riga on its way home from a meeting of central bank leaders in Basel, Switzerland.
